About Us

Our Story

Capital Therapy Group was founded in 1988 as Capital Area Speech, Language, and Educational Services (CASLES). Co-founder, Susan Weber, was motivated to open a private practice to allow for a better relationship between patients, families, and therapists. Before private practices were options for receiving therapy services, patients were limited to hospitals, inpatient rehab facilities, and school systems. This limited therapists’ ability to work alongside families and limited patients’ abilities to reach their full potential. Being able to collaborate as a team and communicate face-to-face with parents and caregivers makes a difference in patient success and quality of life. We cherish our relationships with our patients and their families. We know how important communication, mobility, and being able to live your life in a meaningful and functional way can be.

What started in a single room in a dentist’s office with a handful of speech therapy patients has now expanded to an 8,000 square foot facility offering multidisciplinary rehabilitative services to children and adults. From 1988-2003, Capital Area Speech offered speech/language therapy to the Austin area. In 2003, Capital Area Speech expanded to include occupational therapy services. In January 2014, Susan Weber founded Capital Therapy Group and expanded services to include both pediatric and adult physical therapy and pediatric feeding/swallowing therapy.

The importance of family involvement and having a community for support is what drives CTG. Helping others is a family affair – Susan Weber’s own family involves many healthcare professionals, including a Speech-Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, and multiple physicians. Susan has three grown children who grew up in this clinic who loved coming to play with the toys on the weekends. The clinic served as motivation for her own children to pursue careers in helping others.
