Halloween Edition: Part 2

Welcome back to “Fun Friday” where we let you know about fun activities for children and families happening in and around the Austin area!
Here’s what’s happening this weekend and into next week: 
Remember: Halloween is next Thursday!

Halloween Bash, Friday, October 25, 5 p.m., The Little Gym of Austin at Lakeline. Ghostly games, thrilling treats, and a mysterious maze! Costumes are encouraged! Please call at 512-918-9876 if you have any quivering questions! The first gym play hour from 5:00-6:00 p.m. is only open to families with children under 3 years. Families with children 3 years and older will be invited to come at 6:00pm. Children under 3 years are free to stay after 6:00 p.m. If you have both Parent/Child and Pre/K children, please do not participate in gym play before 6:00 p.m. The Halloween Bash is open to EVERYONE! You do not have to be a member to attend, so invite friends and family! Admission is FREE. (14010 N Hwy 183 #445)

Trick or Treat Path and Carinval, Friday, October 25, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., Northwest Recreation Center. Don’t be late….for this very important date! Come join us down the rabbit hole for our annual Halloween trick-or- Treat Trail and Carnival. This year’s carnival will include a bounce house, popcorn, games, candy, a trip down the rabbit hole trail, and more Halloween fun for all ages! First 10 Tickets are FREE. Additional tickets can be purchased for $0.25 each. (2913 Northland Dr.)

Spooktacular, Friday, October 25, 6 – 9 p.m., Bullock Texas State History Museum. When darkness falls at the Bullock Museum, history’s spookiest stories are brought to light. Discover terror-ific tales of Texas through games, storytelling, costumes and more! FREE. (1800 N. Congress Avenue)

Community Halloween Carnival, Friday, October 25, from 7 – 9 p.m., Turner-Roberts Recreation Center. Boo… Trick or Treat!! Join the Halloween Celebration at Turner-Roberts for lots of free candy, games, door prizes and arts & crafts. Music and snacks will be provided. FREE! (7201 Colony Loop Dr.)

2nd Annual Halloween Family Fun and Film Fest, Saturday, October 26, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.,Yarborough Branch512-974-8820. Visit the library for arts and crafts, food and drinks, and a movie for the whole family. Monsters, Inc. will show at 10:30 a.m. FREE. (2200 Hancock Dr.)

Halloween Bash, Saturday, October 26, 12 – 3 p.m., Whole Foods Gateway. Enjoy music, food, face painting and Halloween crafts & games. Be sure to wear your costumes and have your photo taken in our photo booth! FREE. (9607 Research Blvd)

Brentwood Halloween Carinval, Saturday, October 26, 3-7 p.m., Brentwood Elementary School. Come support Brentwood Elementary at the annual Haunted Halloween Carnival! Fun Activities: Haunted House, Inflatables, Putt-Putt, and over a dozen carnival booths with prizes! Delicious Food: Taco Deli, Eastside Pies, Bake Sale, Popcorn, and Cotton Candy! FREE to attend. 26th Annual Monster Concert, Saturday, October 26, 3-8 p.m., Austin High. FREE concerts in the Performing Arts Center will feature guest orchestras from local schools. In addition, there will be an outdoor Carnival with food, games, live music, a costume contest at 5:45 p.m., and a Haunted House. At the event, Carnival tickets will be $1 and Haunted House admission will be $7. Fall Festival, Sunday October 27, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Cathedral School of St. Mary. Join us for food, fun and fellowship. There will be food, games, silent auction, arts & craft vendors and much more. FREE. (203 E. 10th St)

Halloween Party on the Plaza, Saturday, October 26, 3-5 p.m., The Domain. Halloween is here and The Domain is inviting all little ghouls, goblins and boo’tiful princesses to come have a spooktacular time at the Halloween Party on the Plaza Event at iPic Theaters Plaza. There will be trick-or-treating, spooky music, face painting, crafts, and more! No toy weapons. Masks permitted on children 12 and under. (3225 Amy Donovan Plaza)

Dittmar Spooktacular, Saturday, October 26, 4 – 9 p.m., Dittmar Recreation Center. The carnival festivities will be held on the Dittmar Field with the movie to follow at sunset. The Haunted House will be held in Dittmar’s Main Building. (1009 W. Dittmar Rd)

Halloween at Rosewood Saturday, October 26, 2013, from 6 – 9 p.m., Rosewood Park. Activities will include carnival type games, concessions, prizes, cake walk, costume contest and haunted house! (1182 North Pleasant Valley Road)

Pumpkin Sculpting Competition, Sunday, October 27, noon – 4 p.m., Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum. BYOPumpkin or purchase one from the museum. There will be sculpting and carving tutorials by Texas Society of Sculptors’ Marla Riperda, plus a silly round of judging at 3:45 p.m. This year, your admission fee is waived when you bring 3 non-perishable food items to be donated to the Capital Area Food Bank. Fright Night at the Museum, Sunday, October 27, from 1 – 4:45 p.m., Texas Memorial Museum. Dress up your little goblins and bring your mummy to celebrate Halloween at Austin’s very own dinosaur graveyard! Join spooky scientists in exploring the mysterious side of Texas’ natural history. Feel frightful fish from the ocean depths; and be rattled by slithery snakes of Central Texas. FREE. Free Family Day at the Art Garage, Sunday, October 27, 2 – 4 p.m., The Art Garage. Visit the studio for free and fun Halloween themed art projects. There will also be specials and walk-in offerings. All ages are welcome. FREE. (11190 Circle Dr, Ste 202)

Austin Symphony Children’s Halloween Concert, Sunday, October 27 at 2 p.m., Long Center. This year’s spook-tacular show is sure to have you shakin’ in your boots! Your little ghost or goblin will help haunt Long Center’s Dell Hall as the Austin Symphony presents its annual Halloween Children’s Concert, featuring mindchilling songs that are entertaining for all ages! The entire family is encouraged to join in on the fun and dress to impress in their favorite costumes while attending a concert full of “boo-tiful” music. Tickets are $8 for children; $12 for adults. (701 W. Riverside Drive)

Fall Harvest Festival,  Sunday October 27, 3 – 5 p.m., YMCA North Austin Branch. Gather up your little ghosts and goblins for some Halloween fun at the YMCA! There will be tricks and treats, so come in costume. The Y will provide games, candy and a parade in a safe and supervised environment. FREE and open to all. (1000 W. Rundberg Ln)

Goblins in the Garden, Sunday, October 27, 4 – 7 p.m., Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Dress up and come to the Wildflower Center and trick-or-treat at candy stations throughout the garden. Kids can also get their faces painted, listen to stories at the Little House, take part in a scavenger hunt, do arts and crafts, and march in a costume parade. Admission is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors and students, $3 for children 5 through 12, and free for Center members and children under 5.

Trunk or Treat/Fall Festival: Sunday, October 27, 4 – 6 p.m., Bethany Lutheran Church. Join Bethany Lutheran for the annual Trunk or Treat and Fall Festival. Children can collect candy at decorated cars, decorate cupcakes, play carnival games, participate in a costume parade, hear spooky stories, enjoy yummy treats and much more. Exciting prizes will be offered for best decorated cars so please consider bringing your “decked out” car to the event! FREE. (3701 W. Slaughter Ln)

Fall Festival, Sunday, October 27, 4 – 6 p.m., Southwest Christian Church. Wear your costume for trunk or treat candy and games, and enjoy a hayride, bounce house, and more. FREE. (10500 Old Manchaca Rd)
