In our final segment of ASHA’s “Identify the Signs” campaign post we will relay some info from their website regarding “Knowing the Facts”.

According to ASHA:
- 45% of SLPs and Audiologists believe that a lack of awareness/education is the leading barrier to early detection.
- 64% of parents are unaware of early warning signs for delays or disorders
- 57% of parents don’t realize that without early detection, treatment takes longer and is more expensive
- 45% of individuals don’t know that misuse of personal audio technology my cause hearing loss
- 70% of individuals think untreated hearing loss among the elderly is an acceptable part of aging
